Parreirinha de Alfama is a hole in the wall in a secluded alley in the Alfama quarter of Lisbon. However, owned by a renouned fado singer it portrays a good mix of well known "fadistas". I understand the featured artists change frequently but at least the day we were there we had Tina Santos, Luis Tomar and Maria do Carmo.

Parreirinha de Alfama grew as a great restaurant and Fado house due to the work of its founder, Argentina Santos. She commanded every element of the kitchen, from purchasing to preparing the food. Currently, Chef Jaqueline Silva and her assistant, Aicha Elhayany, act as the gatekeepers of a tradition of intense flavors and food with soul.
